Breslin Clean Ups

One of the many fun things that Tau Beta Sigma does is fundraisers. Our chapter does many different things to fundraise money and one of these is Breslin clean ups. Every couple of months the Zeta Epsilon chapter of Tau Beta Sigma earns money by cleaning up the Breslin Center. We thank our treasurer Shannon for finding such a convenient and monetary rewarding project for us to do. Shannon also is nice enough to pick dates to clean and signs us up for these.

We pick up trash around the center after events such as MSU’s men’s basketball games or the recent Indian dance recital. The chapter usually meets outside of Breslin then goes inside where we get trash bags and gloves. We all circle Breslin, combing the rows while finding and throwing away trash left behind by spectators. Depending on the event and amount of people that show up, clean ups can take us as much as an hour or as short as 15 minutes.

Though it sounds disgusting and trust me it truly is extremely gross, picking up trash with a group of your friends can be quite an experience. Making fun of the trash we find and competing to see who can pick up the most trash is all part of the game. Cleaning up the Breslin Center is usually a very easy and for the most part quick fundraiser. Picking up trash is not how many people would enjoy spending their nights during the week or weekend, I sure never thought it would be. Yet cleaning up the Breslin is just one of the many fun things that comes with being a member of the Zeta Epsilon chapter of Tau Beta Sigma.
